STEP #02B Create Human Character with Character Creator

HUMAN with CHARACTER CREATOR

This step is to use Character Creator for the head and body. This process uses no MetaHumans at all, even inside Unreal Engine – it’s all CC characters.

CUSTOM HEADS

Custom heads – you can use HEADSHOT 2 with scanned heads.

WHERE TO GET FREE & PAID HEADS

Check out a list of free and paid 3D scanned heads here.

MODELLING YOUR OWN HEADS

Use ZBrush.

GoZ is a way to connect ZBrush to other DCCs. Official, it supports 3DSMax, Maya, and C4D. Reallusion also has built support for GoZ with Character Creator. (Official site here.)

As of September 2023, “MHB:Studio” is working on a tool for MetaHuman Facial Rig Customization called “MetaHuman Custom”. (YouTube)

CUSTOM BODIES

Custom bodies – you can customize them to a degree in metahuman creator, but only to one of the 18 body size codes (and you can change skin color). For more control, you can use CC4 to create charactrer and then transfer it to Unreal. OR you can use cc4 to create a custom character and then turn it into a MetaHuman.

Purchased model of creature, fully rigged with Human IK and imported into iClone via Character Creator 4.

Custom rig with CC4 texture

Final result will be as photorealistic as the purchased textures are.

HEAD: “CC4” base character (photorealistic) which has a “CC4 Extended Facial Profile” with is the most advanced possible (as of iClone 8.3/CC4.3). Customized with morph sliders in Character Creator 4.
BODY:  “CC4” base character (photorealistic) which is basically CC3+ body with tiny changes. Customized with morph sliders in Character Creator 4.

CC4” (ie. “CC3+” body and “CC4 Extended Facial Profile”)

Lots of customizations. But rendered final result in Unreal will NOT be as photorealistic as option 1.

CC4” (ie. “CC3+” body and “CC4 Extended Facial Profile”)

An even more ‘custom’ face. But rendered final result in Unreal will NOT be as photorealistic as option 1.
