STEP #01: Make a Plan

The first step of the iClone2Unreal workflow is to come up with a film idea and some sort of “plan”.

Just write down what you want your film to be!

Your “plan” doesn’t have to be a traditional screenplay – the kind you’d write for a feature film.

It could also be one of the following:

  • a short synopsis; a page or so that gives an overview of what happens in the film
  • a treatment; is a step-by-step breakdown of each scene explained in detail
  • a simple list of scenes

NUMBERED LIST OF SCENES

From the script you need to create a numbered list of scenes, and a scene is a sequence in one location. That numbered list of scenes will make it easier keep track of animations later on.

STORYBOARDS

You can hand draw your own storyboards to get your visual ideas down.

AI CONCEPT IMAGES

You can even use AI to create concept images that you can refer to throughout the process.

LISTS OF VARIOUS ASSETS

Then you need to use that script to creates lists of various assets that you’ll need to make your film.

  • a list of the actors with a description of each one; including their gender, height, weight, age, skin color, hair, clothing and accessories such as earrings or a watch.
  • a list of locations, with descriptions of each one; including its buildings and the kind of landscapes and the natural biomes it needs.
  • a list of props
  • a list of vehicles
